History 

The name Calcite is derived from the Latin word calcit, meaning “lime.” It is notably present in marble and limestone formations which have been used in construction throughout history. It was appreciated and used by the ancient Egyptians who appreciated the stones properties and used it for canopic jar decoration or other afterlife adornments.

Geology

Yellow Calcite is a calcium carbonate mineral. It is a common mineral and an essential component of limestones. It ranges in colour from pale yellow to a deep lemon yellow caused from impurities and iron oxide staining. It can be located all around the world and has a hardness of 3 on Mohs scale.

Precautions

Yellow Calcite is a soft stone so can be damaged quite easily. Due to it being a soft stone it is not recommended to cleanse it with salt or any harsh detergents.
